Frequently Asked Questions about the Find-a-Locksmith Database

TAOL Home

When I click on the "Find a Locksmith" database, Why does it take me to a message board forum index search page?

No problem that's the Find-a-Locksmith data base, check out the logo in the upper left corner, and click it when you want to do a new search.

The Find-a-Locksmith function at the TAOL Website uses a MYSQL database that is constructed using a phBB forum software, that's why the search function looks similar to a message board search function you may be familiar with.

Just enter the Search Query to suit your needs, such as a City name, Locksmith's name, postal code, etc and the search result will contain all the Locksmith's listed that contain the Search Query terms you used.

Why is my company not listed?

You must be a member of the TAOL to be listed AND you have to let us know you WANT to be listed.

I know several members who are NOT in the data base, why is that?

Some members do not want to be in the database, (for example they may be a institutional member) database inclusion is not mandatory.  If you think they SHOULD be listed let them know or email the webmaster and we will contact them.

When I search for a common word like "lock" or "Ontario" why don't I get any results?

By design, any search query that calls up more than roughly 1/3 of the database will not garner any results.

Why won't the database let me make a search? I keep trying and it gives me an error page?

There is a short delay to stop very repetitive searches (like search robots make) just wait for 10 or 15 seconds and try again.

Also rarely some computer that use very strong virus/firewall/security protection programs may screen the cookies needed to run a  PHP database.  Contact your computer guru if you think this may be the case.

My data is incorrect or missing can I fix in myself?

No, Please email the administrator or the office for changes.
